Confirmed: Alfa Romeo Coming to the USA in 2007

Fiat Group CEO, Sergio Marchionne, announced that Alfa Romeo is planning its return the US market, during the Italian Group’s “First Quarter Financial Results 2006” Conference.

Alfa Romeo’s launch in the US will be made in late 2007 using US-based Maserati dealer network, which itself over the last year, has been separated from its previous union with Ferrari.

The model range will consist of Alfa Romeo's new 'breed' of sports models: the Alfa 159, Brera and Spider. The 'halo' model will probably be the limited-run 8c Competizione which will be based on the Maserati Coupé/Spyder rear wheel drive platform and V8 engine.

Italian ULIM union, expressed its support on Alfa Romeo’s decision to return to North American market. UILM General-Secretary Antonino Ragazzi commented at the AGI news agency, "The fact that Alfa Romeo is returning to the US market is good news for the Fiat Group, and especially for the factory at Pomigliano d'Arco, Naples, where the production of models 147 and 159 is increasing. When Italian models are successful abroad, it's something to be proud of”
