2008 VW Golf GTI Pirelli Edition 230Hp

25 years after the famed Pirelli-Golf GTI version came out in May 1983 VW presented its successor in the form of the fifth generation Golf GTI at the VW GTI meeting, “Wörthersee 2007”. Conspicuously, this is VW Group’s third world premiere at the GTI fest after the 650Hp Golf GTI W12 and the Audi TT clubsport quattro concepts. Back to the limited edition Pirelli version is based on the Golf GTI “Edition 30” with the tweaked 2.0TFSI engine delivering 230Hp. It boasts a top speed of 245km/h (152mph) and a 0-100km/h (62mph) time of 6,8 sec (manual gearbox).

While the GTI Pirelli retains the bodykit of the “Edition 30”, it features a few unique elements. Starting of course with the 225/40 Pirelli P-Zero tires and the 5-spoke titanium coloured 18’’ Pirelli rims. The only other exterior add on is the Pirelli logo on the back door. In the interior, the first things you notice are the bass-relief seat surfaces with the eye-popping Pirelli tire tread design. As expected, you get your usual Pirelli logos here and there. According to VW, the Pirelli GTI will be available from this September in four colours- bright yellow, silver, black pearl & blue graphite. -Follow the jump for the high-res image gallery
