Chevrolet Camaro "RIP"...

In a couple of years, thousands will be lining up in Chevy dealers getting ready to place a down payment for the all new Camaro. Many will do it to re-live their adolescence without spending time or money in restoring, others just to make a quick buck by reselling the first pieces on e-bay and hopefully, many by the car itself. Same goes for the Dodge Challenger. But what about the cars that actually inspired this retro muscle-craze, what did fate behold for them?

Well, some lucky ones found a home in your everyday garage where they’ll spend the rest of their life “married” to passionate everyday folks who’ll cherish them and treat them with an occasional spin. Others, less fortunate spend most of their time between “rest-homes” and auction halls. Even worse though, some like the Camaros shown in the pictures are cursed to stay still in graveyards abandoned to the harsh hands of nature till rust takes all….

Super Chevy mag stumbled upon this car graveyard filled with first & second-generation Chevrolet Camaro located somewhere in Southern California. Don’t tell me that seeing these Camaros doesn’t burn a few heart valves. Via: Motorpassion & Super Chevy

Drop-top gorgeous – Chevrolet Camaro Cabrio official pics

Embargo what? Oh, just read what we wrote earlier this morning so we can continue with what really matters to car enthusiasts like ourselves. Ok, maybe Dani’s prayers for a T-Top Camaro weren’t answered but by God, this is one hell of a beauty.-Continued: Click “Read More…” below

Painted in a super-sexy deep orange colour with retro black stripes, the cabrio version of last years Camaro Concept is expected to find its way to production shortly after its coupe sibling is introduced to the market in 2009. Apart from the absence of a metallic roof, there’s no other significant differentiation between the Camaro Coupe Concept and Cabrio. We’ll have more on Chevy’s gorgeous Camaro Cabrio when GM unveils it… officially on Saturday prior to its Detroit Show debut. Pics Via: Although you can find them in the whole damn net, we'll play fair and give credit to Autoblog.com

Never Mind the Mullets, Here Comes the Camaro

As stupid as it may seem, we couldn’t stop laughing with this Camaro-Mullet lover’s parody. It was made in memory of the last generation Camaro’s and Firebird’s, featuring a pack of mullet wearing, camaro driving, breast fondling, Texans. Instead of presenting a cabrio version of the Camaro concept in Detroit, maybe GM should consider presenting a T-Top version and bring back the “business in the front, and party in the back” hair-do.

Transformers Movie Trailer – Extended Japanese version

I don’t know why but fact is that the boyz over at Japan are getting a few extra scenes of the new Transformer Movie Trailer that came out worldwide a few weeks ago. Not that anybody is interested but they also get the chance to see Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg chanting a few Japanese words. Via:Jalopnik

Chevrolet Camaro Cabrio Concept rumoured to debut in Detroit

The boyz over at Autoweek seem to be passing through some sort of steroid phase today. As if the Mustang 4door-coupe wasn’t enough “muscle” for a day, now they’re telling us that Chevy is planning to unveil a cabrio version of this year’s Camaro Concept. Now, if you’re kinky enough to ask why, well think of it as a striptease game: before we get to the final unveiling –aka the production version in 2009, first they “throw out” the coupe concept in 2006 then a Cabrio version of it in 2007 and who knows what in 2008. Sounds logical if you ask me. Via: Autoweek.com

PS: As with our previous post on the 4d Coupe Mustang, Autoweek requested us to remove the image

Official 2009 Chevrolet Camaro Ringtone - Download Here

I think it's safe to say that we all agree that the Chevrolet Camaro concept was great. People loved it so much that they where even asking for a cell phone ringtone on GM's official blog (Fastlane). So, GM's Design Director Tom Peter decided to make us all a very happy bunch by giving us a free downloadable mp3 audio version of a screaming 2009 Chevrolet Camaro V8 engine. Although to tell you the truth, I have a Love & Hate affair with my cell phone. I need it, but when it rings, Its usually someone who wants something and not sometime, but...NOW. Well, at least with this ringtone I can leave it ringing and ringing for hours...

After a small period of absence from our daily news, a new Transformer Movie image has surfaced on the net to refresh our memories. Once again, it's our favorite Bumblebee who seems to be caught with his pants -sorry, I mean costume, down, unveiling his Chevrolet Camaro based, robot underbody. Via: Autoblog.com

Camaro Frenzy: GM releases video featuring Camaro's head designer driving & commenting on the prototype

The "Camaro frenzy" that has broken over GM's headquarters continues. A couple of days after the announcement that the Camaro will go in production, it's GMs Fastlane Blog (fastlane.gmblogs.com/) team turn to release a video. The later features Tom Peters, GM Director of Design of the 2006 Chevrolet Camaro Concept Car, driving & commenting on the car for the first time at GM's proving grounds in Milford, Michigan.

Contributing to the "Camaro frenzy" I added an original promotional video for the 1969 Camaro SS which includes a clip from a parade of classic Camaro's leaded by the 2006 concept version.

Let the biddings begin... 2009 Chevrolet Camaro for sale on e-bay

Just one, yes only one day after Rick Wagoner announced that the Camaro concept will head for production and a couple of dealers swept the chance to make some pre-mature dough...

I know it was bound to be, but nevertheless, doesn't it strike you a tad strange that people are willing to bid and give a down payment for a car that, a) they'll get in their hands in 2009 & b) they know as much about it as a horse knows about its tale ? I'm not saying that the 2009 Camaro will be a dissapointment , but I surely can't put my hand on the bible and say that it will fulfill every car-nut's dreams. Why not just wait and see ?

Chevrolet Camaro "Comeback" Officially Announced

Following speculations after it's thriving debut at the North American International Auto Show, GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner gave the Chevrolet Camaro the green light today.

"The overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to the Camaro Concept continues to remind me of the uniquely iconic place our products can have in customers' hearts," Wagoner said. "Camaro is much more than a car; it symbolizes America's spirit and its love affair with the automobile."

The all-new Camaro will begin with early production versions at the end of 2008 and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2009. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe will feature an independent rear suspension, and will be offered in a variety of models with the choice of manual and automatic transmissions and V6 and V8 engines.

Muscle Cars Burning Rubber Broad Daylight In The Heart of Times Square NY!

It's 7:00 am in the heart of NYC, Times Square. All is quiet as citizens of the Big Apple are just waking up. But not for long as a couple of guys show up in their "mucho" Chevy Nova & Camaro racing each other and filling the NYC air with the sweet smell of burnt rubber and the arousing symphony of a classic American big block V8. Cool video!

Baldwin-Motion 540 Chevrolet Camaro SuperCoupe Phase III

Guess who’s back…

One of the most famous names of the muscle car days, Baldwin-Motion, is making a came back as the company is back on its feet, offering an all new Phase III Camaro. The car is based on the SuperCoupe prototype which was previewed last year at the Sema Show in LA

The original team -including the legendary Martyn Schorr and Motion Performance founder, Joel Rosen -- have partnered with Joel Ehrenpreis and Larry Jaworske to jump-start Motion Performance, now named Motion Performance, LLC.

For starters, it is said that only twelve of these red-hot muscle cars will be built with more coming if there is demand…Each car will be built to customer specifications, and will have Joel Rosen’s signature on the headrest, paperwork, and certificate of authenticity. Because Baldwin-Motion starts with actual ’69 Camaros, the cars will have valid VIN numbers to make registration easier.

Details: 1969 Baldwin-Motion 540 Camaro SuperCoupe

Based on a gennie steel 1969 Camaro, the SuperCoupe is gutted to a bare shell. Underneath it gets a 2" x 3" tubular steel chassis, independent front and rear suspensions, Baer Claw disc brakes with 14 inch rotors and 6-piston calipers, and Michelin Sport Pilot rubber on custom-made 18 and 20 inch Bonspeed wheels.

The Camaro SuperCoupe features a custom-designed interior which is completely hand-crafted. It includes six-way power seats, custom fabbed dash with Classic Instruments gauges, and a Sony Xplod audio & video system. But the most interesting part of the interior is the Hemi Cam, a rear-mounted video camera that feeds into a dash-mounted LCD screen. “We call it a Hemi cam because that’s where you’ll see all those Hemis—behind you,” explained Larry Jaworske. There’s also a camera mounted behind the radiator and pointed toward the engine, and another mounted on a front brake caliper so you can watch wheel spin…

The SuperCoupe is powered by an all-aluminum 700-hp Merlin/Motion big-block built by Bill Mitchell. The blueprinted and dyno-tuned 540-cubic-inch powerplant has a World Products aluminum block with 4.50-inch bore, 4.25-inch stroke and 4.840-inch bore spacing. Eagle 6.535-inch H-beam rods, forged crank and 10-to-1 forged pistons are utilized. The roller-cammed engine is topped off with a Cross-Ram fuel injection system custom-built by Jim Kinsler for the SuperCoupe. Polished alloy MOTION-badged valve covers are rare original NOS parts.

Powertrain details include a specially-prepared Tremec TKO five-speed and a fully-independent rear with a Dana 44 Posi and hardened steel high-torque axles. Suspension is four-wheel independent with polished unequal length control arms and toe-in control links and fully adjustable coil-over shocks and sway bars. Steering is rack and pinion.

Stopping power is supplied by MOTION signature Baer Claw Extreme-Plus rakes with forged six-piston Sport calipers and 14-inch cross-drilled rotors front and rear. The SuperCoupe rides on Motion-inspired Bonspeed wheels.
