Official: Lutz confirms Caddy's V12 engine

According to Automotive
News, Cadillac has officially confirmed the development of the Cadillac V12 flagship model. Lutz confirmed that development work for the 12 cylinder engine is underway in Australia where it will be testing what’s expected to be the “Cadillac of Cadillac’s”.

Although a plan for a V16 was shot down, the V12 was approved and now engineers will join two of Holden’s 60-degree, 3.6L, V6 engines on a single crank to form a 7.2L V12 motor, developing about 600hp with 540lb-ft of torque. The intro of this model is part of Caddy’s plan to establish itself in a world full of BMW’s, Mercedes’s and Lexus’s. Of course, if it’s anything like the 16 concept we saw in 2003, this news should have German engineers sweating in their seats. Via: AutomotiveNews
