Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe "12-second video ad" winner

12-seconds; that’s the time needed for the MX-5 Roadster Coupe’s retractable hard-roof to open and close. With that in mind, Mazda set-up a pan-European video contest where all participants had to create a 12-seconds long video of the new MX-5 Roadster Coupe. About 200 videos where submitted across Europe, with the winner being Marianna Shafranskaya from Russia. We haven’t seen the rest of the videos, but we sure enjoyed Shafranskaya’s one. The later will receive a new Mazda Roadster Coupe, while nine other finalists will have to be content with prizes including Bose home entertainment audio systems.

PRESS RELEASE: Novice filmmaker wins Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe Video Contest

Mazda Motor Europe has announced that Marianna Shafranskaya from Russia has won its pan-European 12-second video contest. The contest is the highlight of a unique advertising campaign for the new MX-5 Roadster Coupe – whose power retractable hard top opens and closes in a record 12 seconds.

The campaign included an interactive website where budding filmmakers were challenged to capture their interpretation of Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom feeling on film. From a total of nearly 200 videos submitted from across Europe, a jury selected Ms Shafranskaya’s entry as the grand prize winner. She will receive a new Mazda Roadster Coupe, while nine other finalists will receive prizes including Bose home entertainment and audio systems.

The jury comprised of Mazda’s agency Creative Director Eddy Greenwood, website producer Scott Bedford and Seamus Masterson, director of the viral marketing. "Mazda’s new Zoom-Zoom roadster with the retractable hard top," said Greenwood, ”is a thriller”. That’s why we asked the public to submit their own version of a thrilling 12 seconds, filmed in a way that is surprising and fun. All the final 10 videos were very good, but we felt the grand prize winner best reflected Mazda’s spirit of fun and ingenuity.”

Video: Monster Motorsports Mazda Miata / MX-5 V8

Ok, I know this story isn’t exactly new but this is the first time I’ve seen Monster Mototrsport’s Miata V8 in real-life action. I'm not sure if the company exists anymore since their site (www.monstermotorsports.com) has been down for a long time now. What I do know though is that the Southern Californian based tuner made a reputation by replacing Miata’s stock 4cylinder 1.6 with a 5-litre EFI Ford V8 engine that was offered with several outputs, starting out from about 250Hp and going up to 500Hp with the addition of a supercharger.

Continuing to celebrate its status as ‘Britain’s favourite sports car brand’ – delivering one in every five sports cars sold in the UK – Mazda is introducing two ‘Special Edition’ models to its established Zoom-Zoom product line-up this spring.

The Zoom-Zoom desirability of the iconic Mazda MX-5, the world’s best selling roadster, is boosted by the special edition Mazda MX-5 2.0i ZSport. Priced at £19,995 on-the-road, it costs just £1,045 more than the Mazda MX-5 2.0i Sport with six-speed transmission, but offers further value with more than £2,250 worth of additional or exclusive extras.

Exclusive exterior features of the MX-5 ZSport include unique Radiant Ebony Mica paintwork, bespoke 17-inch BBS multi-spoke alloy wheels, a stylish chrome front grille surround complete with other exterior chrome touches and discreet ZSport badging.

Inside, there is special Stone-coloured leather upholstery, a brushed aluminium dash panel, chrome air vent bezels, climate control air conditioning and alloy pedals. Just 400 examples of the ZSport will be available in the UK.

This spring, the Mazda line-up includes a new version of the high power Mazda RX‑8 four-seater, four-door sports coupé – the Mazda RX-8 Kuro Limited Edition. With a power output of 231ps and six-speed transmission, the Mazda RX-8 Kuro will be strictly limited to 500 vehicles, every one finished in unique Sparkling Black Mica paint (‘Kuro’ translates as ‘Black’ in Japanese), with special exterior badging and five-spoke, 18-inch dark silver alloy wheels.

Mazda MX-5 / Miata cross-dresses as a BMW Z3

Talk about cross-dressing… If you thought the BMW Z4 that was transformed into a BMW Z8 was weird I wonder what you’d say about this guy who took a 1995 Mazda MX-5 / Miata “Decepticoning” it to a BMW Z3! Ha, who needs the Chinese when there’s folks like these! Pics via: e-bay

AMX07: Mazda Miata / MX-5 base, Aston Martin looks !

Since it looks like it’s an Auzzie day today, I thought I’d check around the web and see what those folks “down-under” have to give us when it comes to terms of “wheels” and I stumbled upon this “freak”!

This, ladies and gentleman, is the Auzzie made, AMX07 which is a rebodied 2nd generation Mazda Miata / MX-5 Roadster! The AMX07, which is available as a kit or as a completed vehicle completely transforms a standard, 1989-1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA series) into a wanna-have an Aston Martin for the poor

Brainchild of Brisbane-based Custom Automotive Restyling, the AMX07 was awarded the “Dare To Be Different” trophy at the Gold Coast Autosalon, on June 3-4. Read more at www.amx07.com/index.php Via: Wheelsblog

Mazda MX-5 Roadster-Coupe

This has to be a first: a roadster available with soft top and retractable hardtop versions. Only a year after Mazda presented its third generation MX-5 / Miata, it decided to debut yet another version of its popular roadster with an electronically folding two piece hardtop.

The MX-5 Roadster-Coupe as it is called will be previewed at the British International Motor Show in London (18– 30 July) with sales beginning in Europe towards the end of the year. Mazda MX-5 with a power retractable hard top roof will be known by different names around the world:

Europe: Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe

Japan: Mazda Roadster Power Retractable Hard Top

North America: Mazda MX-5 (Miata) Power Retractable Hard Top

Unlike other Coupe-Cabrios, the MX-5’s two piece roof doesn’t stow away in the compartment area but instead it folds –just like its soft top sibling- behind the seats, thus allowing the boot to remain intact (150 litres). Mazda’s new MX-5 Roadster-Coupe will be available with two engines, 1.8 and 2.0 litres.

Mazda Miata / MX-5 “Bad Attitude” Video Ads

THESE ads of the new generation Miata / MX-5 roadster are said to have been cut by Mazda officials. Both follow Mazda’s parent Ford, SportKa ads in philosophy, showing the bad side of the Japanese roadsters character. Enjoy!
