2008 Νissan Skyline – 12th Generation

Ok, it may not be the Skyline that we’ve all been waiting for –the GT-R is due next year, but nevertheless, important, as Nissan’s mid-size sedan has its own fanatic audience in the Japanese market. So, what’s new here? Well, just about everything as according to Nissan, the 12th generation Skyline, features all-new exterior and interior designs, a next generation FR-L platform and a newly developed VQ35HR V6 engine. Dimension wise, overall height is 20mm lower and overall width is 20mm wider than its V35 predecessor.


The Skyline is powered by the newly developed VQ35HR and VQ25HR V6 engines. The 3.5L version generates 315 horsepowers and 36.5kgm of torque and is capable of revving up to 7500rpm, while the 2.5L generates 225 horsepowers and 26.8 kgm of torque. The powerplant is matched to a 5speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift. A new DS mode allows for more spirited driving by optimizing gear selection for various driving conditions.


Also, unique to the Skyline is as what Nissan refers to as, the world’s first four-wheel active steering system, which adjusts the steering angles of the front and rear wheels in accordance with driving speeds and steering operation, allowing for greater control at low and medium speeds, and smooth effortless cruising at higher speeds. It is optional on SP and S series.Finally, the new Skyline is equipped with larger 18" (sports models) and 17" (standard models) alloys. In the sport models, it is equipped with different sized front (225/50R) and rear (245/45R) tires.
